The Venice Film Festival celebrated a remarkable night as legendary filmmaker Jim Jarmusch took home the coveted Golden Lion for his film ‘Father Mother Sister Brother’.
The film, a unique story split into three different family tales, explores the bonds, conflicts, and love that tie people together.

Jarmusch, known for his signature sunglasses and understated style, appeared on stage in a maroon suit and greeted the crowd with his now-famous, casual “Oh shit.”
He spoke honestly about the honor, saying, “As filmmakers, we’re not motivated by competition, but this is something I truly appreciate.”
The director shared his love for Venice, calling it “the city of Casanova, Vivaldi, and Terence Hill,” and thanked both the jury and audience for embracing what he described as “our quiet film.”
Jarmusch also praised fellow filmmaker Benny Safdie, who won the Silver Lion for Best Director for ‘The Smashing Machine’. Jarmusch highlighted Safdie’s point that “art does not have to address politics directly to be political. It can engender empathy, which is the first step toward solving our problems.”
The Grand Jury Prize went to ‘The Voice of Hind Rajab’, a moving drama set in Gaza that captivated the judges with its emotional depth and powerful storytelling.
